This morning, I was feeling a little blue and worrying about what will happen in the next few weeks if our income is slashed due to the State's budget cuts, especially in the Adoption Subsidy, but also some of the social services our children and many others receive here in Galesburg and around the state. When the mail was delivered, I had an envelope with a Virginia address that was totally unfamiliar to me. Upon turning the envelope over, I discovered a little notation on the back (LNS '09). I immediately cheered up some because I knew that I had just received a RAK! A RAK is one of the many things encouraged by a group of the Late Night Stampers. It stands for Random Act of Kindness. These ladies randomly choose a name from the address list of the group and send them a card. They can also be sent for birthdays and anniversaries, but being chosen for a random kindness is truly special.
I'd like to share the poem she enclosed:
Here's a RAK from me to you
I hope indeed, this much is true...
As you opened this card A smile came to your face
Since I was thinking of you In a far off place
I hope in some way
I've brightened your day
And you feel good about YOU
As you go on your way.
Isn't that beautiful? Thank you Nancy Dawson from Madison Heights, Virginia!
Make someone smile today. Send them a card as a Random Act of Kindness. You'll be glad you did!
Happy stamping,
Twila
